Brief Biography
Mr. Brooks was first introduced to HVACR while serving in the US Navy in the 1960s. His interest continued as he attended California Polytechnic State University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology in their HVACR program. Mr. Brooks was proficient in A/C system design during the 70s and worked for contracting companies in the San Francisco bay area. His interest turned to energy efficiency technology and in the early 2000s he developed and patented a highly efficient indirect evaporative heat exchanger and subsequently a complete evaporative indirect-direct air cooling system known as an IDAC. He presented the system to the California Energy Commission (CEC) and to all California utilities displaying successfully installed prototypes. Ten years ago Mr. Brooks subcontracted with engineering firms under contract with the CEC to evaluate how apartment developers and their HVAC contractors were meeting Title 24 energy code requirements. The results laid the initial foundation for his current development work and patents presented on this website. He is a retired licensed engineer and California HVAC contractor. By his many technical experiences in public and private sectors he is now identified as a Engineering Technologist known to bridge the gap between theory and practical applications.
Mr. Brooks is the sole or first named inventor on seven energy related US patents.
